⚔️ Core Combat Mechanics

💥 Vulnerable Explained

Vulnerable is a status effect causing enemies to take 20% increased damage from all sources.

How to Apply:

  • Specific skills have built-in Vulnerable application
  • Many skills have "Makes Vulnerable" modifiers
  • Some Legendary Aspects apply Vulnerable
  • Paragon nodes can grant Vulnerable on crit

💡 Pro Tip

Vulnerable stacks additively, but the 20% bonus is multiplicative with other damage increases!

🛡️ Stagger System

Stagger is a hidden damage threshold that, when reached, causes enemies to become stunned and take bonus damage.

  • CC effects build stagger: Stuns, Freezes, Dazes, Slows
  • World Bosses have visible stagger bars
  • Elite monsters have reduced stagger building
  • When staggered: Enemies are frozen for 2-3 seconds and take 30% more damage

⚠️ Important

Save your biggest cooldowns for when the enemy is staggered for maximum burst!

🎲 Luck Hit Mechanics

Luck Hit is a chance-based trigger that occurs on each hit (not per attack).

  • Critical strikes do NOT affect Luck Hit chances
  • Each skill hit can trigger Luck Hit effects
  • Multi-hit skills = multiple chances
  • Example: "20% Luck Hit to heal" means 20% chance per hit

💡 Optimization

Stack multiple different Luck Hit effects for higher overall proc rates!

👊 Crowd Control (CC) & CCR

CC Types: Stun, Freeze, Daze, Fear, Taunt, Slow, Immobilize, Knockback

CC Resistance (CCR) reduces the duration of CC effects applied to you.

  • Elites have 20% CCR
  • Nightmare Dungeon monsters have 30%+ CCR
  • Cap CCR at 85% for near-immunity
  • Unstoppable breaks existing CC and grants immunity
🔥 Damage Scaling

Damage calculation follows this general formula:

Final Damage = (Base × Skill%) × (1 + Sum of additive %) × (1 + Multiplicative %) × (1 + Vulnerable bonus if applicable)

Additive Bonuses (soft cap around 300%):

  • Core Stat damage (Strength, etc.)
  • Damage to Close/Range/Far
  • Damage vs. Elites/Bosses

Multiplicative Bonuses (no cap - prioritize these):

  • Critical Strike Damage
  • Vulnerable Damage
  • Overpower Damage
  • Damage while Berserk/Cursed/etc.
💫 Overpower

Overpower is bonus damage based on your current HP and Fortify amounts.

  • Each HP/Fortify point gives a small Overpower chance
  • When triggered: Deal bonus damage equal to a % of your HP
  • Works on both attacks and crits
  • Barbarian and Druid have strongest Overpower synergy

Overpower Formula:

Overpower Damage = (Current HP + Fortify) × Overpower stat %

🎯 Survival Guide

✅ DO These

  • Cap resistances at 70% - Each resistance caps at 70% damage reduction
  • Keep health potions ready - Use before you get too low
  • Maintain mobility - Dodge, don't face-tank
  • Learn attack patterns - Watch for telegraphs
  • Build Fortify - Extra effective HP buffer
  • Use Unstoppable - Break CC to escape combos

❌ NEVER Do These

  • Face-tank boss mechanics - Always dodge dangerous attacks
  • Ignore resource management - Keep resources for emergencies
  • Stand in affixes - Frozen, Poisoned, Burning all hurt
  • Chase mobile bosses - Position for their return
  • Pop cooldowns early - Save for vulnerability windows

📊 Defensive Stats Priority

Armor > Resistance > Life % > HP > Life Regen

Note: Armor provides linear damage reduction vs. Physical only. All resistances are universal!
